  • It is precisely what it says on the cover, what it says is what you get, simple.

Easy to read, the ideas of humanism are there to understand interspersed with pieces of thoughts and writings from the earliest days, explaining and confirming what it is to live life to Humanist values. It is amazing to discover who is and had been throughout history a Humanist. Recommend this to anyone wishing to find out more of what Humanism is about.

  • Wisdom distilled.

I am a son of - obstensibly - Christian parents, though neither never insisted we study or follow any particular doctrine. As a yoing person I became skeptical of the whole ethos of organised , all-encompassing and quite often discriminatory religions and was thus very open to the principles of humanism, which I sense are grounded much more in science and critical thought, so am glad to have this book to dip into for inspiration - as an individual - whenever I feel the need of some wisdom.

  • Be Good for Goodness Sake.

A very good-looking hard back with many humanist quotes, some short and pithy, others longer with powerful arguments, on why we should aim to make life better and happier for ourselves and all others living in our world.

  • Everyone's faith to be respected

I'm not sure how I feel religiously however it's important everyone's beliefs and faiths are respected as long as war and anything else negative religion bases isn't involved. Everyone has the right to their own opinions providing they *don't* harm others. I am only half way through my wee book. But so far I have read inspirational quotes.

  • Pretty good, but mistaken.

Pretty good, but mistaken. Humanists adhere to the idea that consciousness can be explained by brain processes. This is a fundamental mistake in that we need consciousness before we can explain the brain. Thought cannot get behind thought.

  • Leading a good life without religion

Appreciating the natural world around us. It is a positive outlook and valuing the things we have, not always putting a monetary value on every thing around us.
