  • Ok, but nobody's best film.

Ok portrait of the Paris Jazz scene in the post-war period with cameos by eminent musicians of the period. A bit of a vehicle for Newman and Poitier...for neither of them their finest hour....nor for the director, Ritt - hard to imagine he gave us The spy who came in from the cold!

  • realistic

Interesting take on 1961 Paris - also on lack of racism in France
