Jimmy Page was surely one of the most prolific session men of the ‘60s, at least in the UK. By my count, there are at least four different LPs (one bootleg double set and two semi-legit single volumes) and three CD packages (one single and two doubles, of which “This Guitar Kills” is the most recent) of his work. While much of the good stuff has already come out over the decades, there are still some gems here and not much overlap with previous collections. Standouts are the Dave Berry tracks, along with Jackie DeShannon, Vashti Bunyan, Marianne Faithfull, and two psychedelic era rare cuts from French rocker Johnny Hallyday. Even at a collector’s premium price, this set is a bargain—you’d easily pay hundreds for the original discs, assuming they could even be found.
