David Bowie, Sydne Rome and Kim Novak star in this European drama. Following the end of WWI, Prussian officer Paul Ambrosius von Przygodski (Bowie) struggles to adjust to life back home in Berlin. An encounter with the enigmatic Baroness von Semering (Marlene Dietrich) results in Przygodski becoming a male escort. However, life continues to elude him and even a relationship with Helga von Kaiserling (Novak) fails to relieve his disillusionment with society.

Not just a Gigolo!!
A time capsule of a (B) movie disappeared without a trace at the time considered awful.. but available now remastered dvd and more entertaining than most modern Hollywood pap! So go ahead, it’s fascinating and not at all bad considering! It also has some interesting extra features.

Much better than I expected
David Bowie is refreshingly good in this film and the supporting cast are made up of the good and the great. It’s sexy and sad for obvious reasons set between the ears in Germany. It’s a very good drama worth a watch.
