Great Radio Kit for Beginner
This is a no solder project on breadboard. The two Integrated Circuits at the heart of the build produce a great little FM radio. The touch controls for tuning add a very modern approach. To make the project permanent, however, you do need to house it in a project box. This is not supplied, but boxes are readily available and inexpensive. A young person would need adult assistance at this point to drill holes in a case for external switches and the touch controls (metal rivets, or screws and washers would work here). The Hayne's kit is good value for money and an excellent introduction to electronics. The instruction sheet gives step by step guidance, and explains how the various components work. I rate it highly and only the lack of sturdy housing knocks one star off.
