The Whale Rider - an engaging read for older children
One of my students has this as a set text, and it is one I hadn't read. So, eBay to the rescue and a very good quality used copy was purchased. The book draws from Maori legend and weaves a story around the legend of the Whale Rider and the importance of tradition and hereditary passing of the title to the first born of each generation.
