Compact and Good Quality
Bought this for a garage door, the quality of the body is very good. It is well finished and very bright red powder coat. Having said all of that, the lock failed on the second time of using. When i say lock it was the key snapped inside unlocking it. Buying a new lock was not cheap either around £12.00. No doubt this is a good quality item, but no use for our door as the lock part on the base plate catches the bottom of the door so it won't open. KEEP THIEVES OUT
Regrettably there is vermin about that tends to steal your property. So after the third time that a tea leaf had broken into my garage I decided enough was enough. Despite the garage being locked this couple (man and a woman) yes they thieve too must have gained entry via the top of the up and over door. Pissed off
Door lock came but the padlock lug in the base has been welded on the wrong way (should be length way on the plate not accross) so the cheap padlock supplied will not fit, I now have to reweld the lug and cut a new slot in the defender, might as well made my own in the first place

Tiny!!
This item is a lot smaller than the standard garage defender bars I’ve personally seen and assumed I was purchasing. Initially, I noticed it was smaller upon arrival but it didn’t bother me until I had installed it a few weeks later when I realised only a very small padlock could fit into it. Add a little peace of mind
I purchased this Defender Garage door lock to boost the security of my garden shed. It works well as I have rawl bolted it to the concrete base so that it blocks both of the double doors. It does make it harder to break in and acts as a deterrent especially being bright red. I did hesitate after reading some of the revues but decided to go ahead despite dire warnings of the quality of the lock. I figure that you have to try to deter the thieves by increasing security rather than do nothing and console yourself with " well if they're determined, they will get in".
