  • Not what I was hoping for

I bought this because I have just become a manager of a junior ice hockey team and I thought "it doesn't matter what the sport is, the principles of getting the best from the team will be the same". I was quite disappointed by this book because there are no insights into Osborne's coaching techniques or how he got the best from his players. the majority of the book is a catalogue of players he has coached, the awards they received (none of which made any sense to a Brit like me) and went on to play in the NFL. All of whom basically say what a great coach and guy Osborne is; and I have no doubt he is too but I didn't learn anything from this book. from the whole book I took a couple of tips to consider but other than that it was a waste of my time reading it. It could be reduced to a leaflet containing the chapter headings and a few examples under each one.
