As a bargain collection of Bach, mostly on period instruments, and at such good value for money, this cannot be bettered. Each disc costs less than a bag of sweets, so it's a no-brainer. It is worth getting even if one already owns recordings of many of the works already, since there are so many discoveries to be made. Some of the discs are outstanding, and more than compensate for the 5% that are only slightly disappointing. Sleeve notes are only available as an online pdf, but are incomplete as of this date (they peter out towards the end "CD136-142 This PDF file will be updated with these liner notes. Our apologies for the inconvenience". so 6 cds of organ music have no descriptions or notes, but this update has clearly never happened , so points off for that. Texts to all the cantatas and other vocal works are given in full, but only in German. Another point off for that. This is a pity, since they clearly expect an English-speaking market for it - the booklet that comes with the set, and the notes on the pdf are entirely in English, but without the all-important translations. Fortunately, this material is mostly available online elswhere, but you have to seek it out.Read full review

Great value for money. 155 CDs of an incredible output from a composer I have admired most of my life. Now I can compare the cantatas to the 71 CD box set I have and know I am not going to run out of listening material for the winter season.
