Beware the pin pinch flat terminal fittings
I'm a big fan of Panasonic and I bought this system to replace my older Cinema System. The sound when playing action type DVD's is outstanding. However, there is what I consider to be a problem with the pin pitch flat type terminals as they appear to be specific to Panasonic and I have yet to scource them anywhere. The reason I want to get hold of some is because the supplied speaker cable is woefully short for the rear surround speakers. Mine are placed behind the seating on speaker stands, so they have to be long enough to come out of the rear of the set up, go up an 8 foot wall, then across the 15 foot wide lounge, and down the 8 foot wall on the other side, then go left and right for another 6 feet before being threaded up the speaker stand, another 4 or 5 feet. No chance, they actually stop short three quarters down the 8 foot wall. If I were to run the cable across the floor they would be adequate but I don't want to rip up my fitted carpet. So on to Panasonic (three E Mails) and to summarise their response they do not recommend joining up an extension as the sound could be affected, they do not manufacture longer cables (only industry standard they say) and they suggest that I take one of the pin pinch fittings to someone who could then manufacture some for me on a longer cable with no joins. Really! The system that I replaced this one with had the straight forward clip in bare wire fittings so I just went out and got some longer and better quality cable. No problem. So I have now had to extend the cables and fortunately there does not appear to be any problem with the sound. It would have been so much better if only Panasonic had been more helpful or flexible and helped out with this as I am sure I can't be the only customer to have had this problem.
