Great big solid chunk of cast iron goodness
This is great, exactly what you should expect if you're done your research into modern cast iron pans. It's massive and although that means it's very heavy the weight is not a killer issue for me. That's just one of the things you need to expect when dealing with cast iron. Where I think this excels is where it is supposed to: cooking. I initially took a sander to it, to get rid of some of the rough edges. This isn't really required (or recommended by the manufacturer) but some people choose to do this. After re-seasoning I've ended up with a lovely smooth surface and the cooking is certainly good enough for me to consider it "non stick" and as good as any teflon I've had in the past. I think the key test is always frying eggs. If you season the pan properly, get it to the right heat and apply just a light rub of oil then the eggs come off just like they would off a brand new teflon pan. Same with pancakes, omelettes ... everything I've thrown at it so far has been cooked brilliantly.
I honestly can't recommend this highly enough, but if you're not in the USA do make sure you get it at a decent price because these are sold dime a dozen in their country of origin and they are definitely not supposed to be priced up there with typically expensive brands.
