Overall the quality of the string makes up for other shortcomings.
Dominant strings are hard wearing and aid a very high quality performance on both my violins. The only drawback I find with ball end strings is on two occasions they have come undone from the ball, so I have had to loop onto my tuners.......a bit of a nuisance.
