This meal worms are great value, the local population of birds are very keen on them , they are very popular with hedge hogs also, I have seen house cats eating these also but a water pistol discourages a return visit During the winter and at this time of year early spring these are a lifeline for birds and our resident blackbird is a a very early visitor every morning he and the back garden Robin will come down while I am putting them out These plus a good seed mix will ensure you have a wide range of birds, we have a number of pied wagtails and yellow wagtails, two robins, a pair of Magpies, hooded crows and their chicks and numerous other species visiting everyday all through the winter, they birds know when I put these out and they wait for me to do so Starlings, which are endangered queue up for these every morning and I find there no need to use a lot of them when the chicks are around I soak the before putting them out so that they don't stick the the chicks craw If you like wild birds and hedge hogs and are keen that they prosper then use these What price survival? Mealworm Feast
My wife and I can't personally tell you if these dried mealworms are good or bad...however, come the morning there is a disorderly queue of nervous birds shuffling along the perimeter fence waiting for the bird tables to be filled; that done chaos follows as they swoop to devour breakfast - we run for safety, just in case...eat your heart out Hitchcock. As evening draws in we scatter mealworms right around the garden in readiness for our nocturnal creatures to arrive, we've seen as many as 4 spiky moonlit silhouettes at a time snuffling, sniffing, seeking like guided missiles untill under every blade of grass and every crevice is explored and every morsel is discovered and consumed, still that's hedgehogs for you. As I've said we humans can't give you a recommendation but every feathered, furry or spiky friend that visits our garden gives you a thumbs?? up.
