Failed Early
I've been using corded power tools most of my life, and cordless models as long as they have existed. I've used and owned them all, but by far, Makita is my fave.
I bought this hammer drill to replace one that was stolen (inside the tool box that held all my cordless drills, batteries, chargers, & specialty bits.)
My purchase on eBay was to save money.
I've had this hammer drill for just over a month, and put less than an hour of use on it (haven't had to charge the battery a 2nd time yet.) The other day, boring an 1-1/4" hole in particle board, smoke came rolling out of the back end. After removing the battery and allowing it to cool, I tested the operation. The motor sounded horrible, and I could see that the internal cooling blades had come separated from the motor. It was made of plastic, and I'm betting something inside got too hot and melted.
I've contacted the seller, waiting to hear back. But I see on his item page, that they do not warranty the tools they sell. Hoping to get repair/replacement from Makita directly, since I did register it in my online account.
This may be the last corded power tool I purchase on eBay.
