I was looking for another aquarium, a small one this time, yet not too small, for the sole purpose of rehoming one of my prized betta fish (pure white halfmoon). I say 'not too small' because contrary to belief betta fish need adequate aquarium space and I would suggest 15L at the very minimum with 19L/20L being more preferable. This particular betta was living in a 64L 'community tank' along with various tetras (rosy, silverfin, neon), corydoras (Venezuelan orange), a few assassin snails and there was no aggression within it. However, the tetras are far faster swimmers than the betta, especially at feeding time being as they are not encumbered by long flowing fins and tail, and so I decided upon rehoming him as I had a short time before with my other betta (blue bodied, white finned/tailed half moon), into a 25L tank, as this would make feeding pellets a far more accurate process. Incidentally, I do have a 125L tank but with the greatest tenants being 14 tiger barbs, the betta would be torn to shreds. The Marina 19L comes supplied with a basic Marina filter and a lid but for tropical fishkeeping requires the purchase of a heater which I duly bought on eBay for around £9 (I would suggest a small nano kind of heater would be best due to the low height of the tank). The tank was easy to set up, and I like the filter because the cartridge can be removed for cleaning or replacing purposes and without removing the filter itself. The only gripe I have is that the filter suckers do slide with the heater intact unless the glass it grips to is not 'slimed' within the tank (filter is comparatively heavy). On the plus side the filter has a gentle flow which is ideal for half moon bettas as due to their heavy finnage they struggle in anything other than gentle currents. Thank you - tropical fish keeper :)

  • Excellent

The reason I don’t recommend things to people and certainly not to people I do not know. I am pleased I bought it and would buy again if I needed one. Hence the 5⭐️ review.
