The Polini Maxi Hi-Speed variator is one of the strongest variators for Maxi scooters on the market. Variator provides increased acceleration and little more top end speed. Supplied as shown in image with 1 set of 19x17 12g rollers, drive boss, sliders and a tube of grease.

Good value upgrade over standard Vespa variator
Well packaged and good quality out of the box with everything needed to get started. Had to read the instructions a few times as it covered different products but installation was straightforward following the exploded parts diagrams. There was a shim supplied with this kit that needs to be located behind the variator back plate nearest crank whereas before the standard shim was located between the variator outer and inner pulleys seated against the chromed variator bush. No issues after fitment. Only issue was that I needed a different tool to hold the outer pulley as the machined holes were of a smaller diameter than on the standard Vespa pulley. Also the Torque value for the variator nut is much higher than standard (160NM vs 60NM) so make sure you have a torque wrench capable of being set that high. The product increased top speed by 10KM/PH. The rev limiter kicks in much higher. Acceleration was about the same but mid to top end saw a noticeable increase. The supplied 12g rollers (x6) in the kit are lighter than the standard 15g on my Vespa and are wider so when replacing them the correct size and weight will need to be sourced.
