About this product

Product Information

Welcome to the weird and warped world of Scarfolk, a town forever trapped in the 1970s... Based on the cult blog Scarfolk is a town in north-west England that did not progress beyond 1979. The entire decade of the 1970s loops ad infinitum. In Scarfolk children must not be seen OR heard, and everyone has to be in bed by 8 p.m. because they are perpetually running a slight fever... Part-comedy, part-horror, part-satire, Discovering Scarfolk is the surreal account of a family trapped in the town. Through public information posters, news reports, books, tourist brochures and other ephermera, we learn about the darker side of childhood, school and society in Scarfolk. A massive cult hit online, Scarfolk re-creates with shiver-inducing accuracy and humour our most nightmarish childhood memories. FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE RE-READ.

  • Dark nostalgia for 70s and 80s kids.

If you grew up with nightmares about dinghys being wheeled into pylons, about dark water ponds, about broken glass on sandy beaches then this will be right up your street, an authoritarian big brother esque Scarfolk Council which looks after your every threat fear and concern, it's all a paraody of course, but compellingly done, with some class graphic design with a nod to the Pelican academic books school of illustration. Scarfolk has crossed from cult to mainstream, with new books and even a TV show coming soon, get ahead of the curve whilst you still can!

  • Dark English humour at its very best.

You laugh a lot reading this book, but then you remember your childhood in 1970's England and reflect on how sinister things actually were. Take Mr Noseybonk as an example. Terrifying....just like this book.
