When did they go to paperback?
Pretty much like all the usual Haynes manuals ( although its no longer based on the complete strip down and rebuild of a mark one ford escort) lots of info and pictures to help point you in the right direction. I know you can find things on the Internet now, but it's far easier to chuck the book on the side of the wing than it is to carry out a small table, extension lead, computer tower, keyboard, mouse etc and set it all up in the rain. My only sad mouth about it, is they appear to have now gone to a paperback type cover and less glossy internal pages, which makes the pictures seem a bit duller. Apart from that, delivery was very prompt and all packaged well. At the price I'm not complaining.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Some Haynes manuals have taken a turn for the worst. I am greatly disappointed. Newspaper has thicker pages and better inks. Photos are bad, and are a mix. Barely useful for my 4x4 version or for the skydome version. :(Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Essential for the home mechanic
I've been using Haynes manuals for 40 years and they've always included essential information regarding how to service your car that you can't find elsewhere. Nowadays they're softback rather than hardback but otherwise they're still up to the same standard as from years gone by. It has all the info, just be careful using it.
I needed a manual for detailed work on a Fiat 500. Although the hardback version of this book is probably more hard wearing, for my needs this version fits nicely and is quite a bit cheaper. The pages don't look as if they'll take too much handling before picking up marks so I'll be protecting the relevant sections with clear plastic, possibly thin A4 plastic pockets cut down the long side to slip the relevant pages in. Nothing worse than a big greasy hand print right over the bit you're trying to read. So overall, I'm pleased with this book, a bit of care in it's use should help to make it last. Good to have, but a bit limited.
I have always bought a Haynes manual for any vehicle I owned, and this time is no exception. However, there are some areas where the information is a wee bit lacking. I accept that in this day and age, where cars are more like computers on wheels, there are some aspects best left to the 'experts'. This is usually an expensive option. For example, one of the common problems associated with the Panda is the torque sensor on the electric power steering. This is a job that commonly attracts quotes of anything between £1800 and £2000+ from a dealer. The offending part is readily available online, and with a little bit of attention, almost anyone who can read can do the job in about half a day, at a cost of about £60 or so. The manual would have been much better if this quite simple task was explained and included. That said, it is very comprehensive in the general maintenance regime for which it is intended, and they also make good bed-time reading when you can't get to sleep. Good Haynes manual
Combined manual with the Panda and Fiat 500 (which uses the same chassis). It's paperback so not quite as sturdy as the hardbacks, but the content is fine. I use it in conjunction with the Fiat workshop manual - but I do that for all the cars I have. A useful addition is an ODB-II code reader - generic ones work for the Panda ECU, but the Cascade emulator and correct ROM pack and ODB-II/USB cable also give you access to the ABS and Airbag controllers.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
