Excellent, low cost analogue proximity sensor
These items work perfectly as short-range proximity detectors. When no magnetic field is present the output sits at 2.5V (strictly, 1/2 Vcc). As a magnet approaches the output either rises towards Vcc or falls towards 0V, depending on the polarity of the magnetic field. Note: these are ANALOGUE voltages - these devices do not switch the output in a binary on/off fashion. The voltage varies with the distance to the magnet. It detected a small neodymium magnet over a range of around 3mm to 10mm. Less that 3mm and the output sat at the supply rail. More than 10mm and the output remained close to 1/2 Vcc. I'm using it as a throttle position sensor for a model engine, and it works great. The voltage varies linearly with distance.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Does what I bought it for.
I have only tested one of the devices and It works. I could not test it's calibration as I have no way to measure magnetic field strength. I only need it to compare magnetic field strengths without knowing their accurate value.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
