I have to say that this is an amazing camera because it delivers top quality images. The level if detail is simply amazing. The built quality, user interface are also stunning. Coming from a 6d, that is also a very good FF camera, I noticed the (enormous) upgrade of the focusing system and the infinite ways of personalize the parameters for shooting. I was a little afraid that my handheld images could be unsharp due to the 50mp resolution of the sensor. If you use a shutter speed above the focal length - 50mm should be shot at around 1/100 - and use a sturdy tripod, a new world would appear to your eyes. The dual slot card, the joystick in the back, the intelligent viewfinder that displays lots of info and the very well placed controls made my shooting a delight. In my opinion is a versatile camera and not just a niche one as some people say. In my opinion, and I made part of my living shooting this is a must have body for all serious photographers. It´s not as unforgiven as the 6d, but if you expose right and have a steady hand the results are fantastic.Read full review

For those of you that haven't read too much on the 5Ds vs Canon 5D Mark III. There isn't really much difference in them apart from the image sensor really. However, the ISO range is actually less on the 5DS than the Mark III. So if you are after quality shots in low light / night shots then you are probably better off with the Mark III. (This ISO range limitation is what you sacrifice for the immense increase in quality image with the 5Ds). But to put it in perspective, a 50 Megapixel image can be printed in very good quality to around 3 foot x 4 foot. The focusing, exposure, AWB, software / menu system behind the controls in both cameras are the same. Needless to say, the 5Ds camera is solidly built, weather proof (dust /sand / waterproof), it has advanced focusing and exposure metering in all scenarios which will assist in getting the right pictures almost all of the time. You get the standard Aperture priority, Shutter priority, manual mode, 'programme' mode, fully 'Auto' mode, Bulb mode, but also custom modes. It comes with standard Canon software for viewing and basic editing software for RAW and JPEG images captured with the camera; strap; battery; battery charger; USB 3 cable; Audio/Visual cable All the menu options in the software are very user friendly and self explanatory and can be reached quickly and easily. Battery life is very good as well. Word of note, if you want to make most use of the 50 Megapixel image with a crystal clear image, you will need to stop down to 100 ISO, sit on a sturdy tripod and set on a timer or use a (wired) remote control (and if you are being very particular in lower light levels, have 'mirror lockup') because the slightest tremor will show up in magnification. The good thing is you can choose to have S, M, L RAW images and the same with JPEG. You can combine the JPEG and RAW images in any size format too (good if you want to edit and play around with but also need something quick and easy to review / send over email / website). i.e. Large RAW and small JPEG images are saved at the same time when one exposure is captured. Very useful in a whole number of scenarios. I don't really want to go into details about everything about this as there are websites and youtube videos exploring these perspectives. However, if there is something specific you wanted to know I am sure I can help out if needed. Overall, very impressed with the overall build quality, software and user controls and the end image capture.Read full review

If you are a Canon DSLR system user and you want the best possible image quality there is only one camera body to buy Canon EOS 5DS R. I have used Canon SLR cameras for more years than I care to remember. They have always been good working cameras. The Canon EOS 5DS R is the accumulation of all the years of experience canon have in building high end DSLR's. Plus points the image quality, being able to use all the canon L series lenses, the build quality and weather proofing. Negative Points, Not many, the price maybe, does not have the ISO range of the 5D mk iii, lacks 4K video. All that can be forgiven when you zoom in on a image and see the fine detail you missed when you took the image on lesser DSLR. To some up, Canon's best DSLR if you need the best image resolution of Portraits, Landscapes and architectural images.Read full review

The camera is awesome. The images are full of detail . The colour rendition beautiful. It’s easy to use and a joy to take photos with . I am more than happy with my purchase. I wouldn’t ordinarily buy a used camera but with only about 5500 actuations it’s very nearly new. There are a few marks but nothing to put you off . Overall I have no complaints apart from the extra costs incurred when bringing the item into the uk . It’s a great camera!

Amazing detail when used with good lenses means it is possible to crop creatively from large image without loss of useable quality. Comparitively slow sensor but this is not an issue for studio, flash and good natural light shooting. For low-light situations I use Canon 6D which is ideally suited for this with very low noise at high ISOs. Would recommend now that prices have become more reasonable.
