Ineffective. NOT recommended.
We have had excellent results with Grangers down treatments, which we still strongly recommend, so saw no reason why this wouldn’t work, except….. …..it doesn’t. Two old Berghaus Paclite jackets, now only around 70% waterproof, and with particular problems on the sleeves and shoulders, were treated. We obeyed the instructions TO THE LETTER. Result? They are LESS waterproof after treatment. How do we know? We laid them both out on the floor before treatment (face down) and poured a pint of water over the backs, then left them. An hour later the floor underneath them was dry and so were the insides of the jackets. We repeated this experiment a day after treatment. The floor was somewhere between damp and wet, so were the insides of the jackets. The exteriors showed there had been much more absorption of moisture in the the fabric, too, and none of this was really testing the problem areas - this was only testing the middle of the back where there are no seams. Conclusion: This does not work. In fact it appeared to wash what remained of the original waterproofing away and added nothing of it’s own. The garments ARE clean, so that part of the process worked, but this will be bought in the hope of reproofing a jacket and THIS IT DOES NOT DO. As an aside I suspect the two-in-one treatment may be part of the problem - it is asking and expecting too much to believe you can thoroughly wash a technical garment AND retreat it all in the same process.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
