Great for bad-weather days, not as a regular workout machine
If you understand what to expect when buying a manual treadmill, I don't think this one will disappoint. I did quite a bit of research before buying, and I'm glad I chose this one. I'm a 5'6" 130-lb. 43yo woman who runs 2-3 miles 4 times per week, but I don't like to run on ice, so I wanted something to keep me active this winter on bad weather days (I live in Minnesota so there are plenty of them!). I didn't want to put the money into an electric treadmill (or burn the coal to run it), so I looked into the manual treadmill option. You definitely shouldn't expect to run on a manual treadmill like you do on an electric one or on the road. It is harder and frankly not as enjoyable. But it makes for a decent alternative/addition to running stairs and using a bike trainer when there's a blizzard or too much ice outside. I've used it for my regular workout twice now. The first time I managed to run for about a half-mile, and forced myself to finish two miles by walking the rest of the time. That was a respectable workout for me! Because it has to be at least slightly inclined to work best, it's like walking/running uphill the whole time. This treadmill has three incline options as well as a tension adjuster, so I shifted both the incline and tension a few times throughout my workout to change it up. You do need to hold on to the arms when you're moving, since it's inclined - but at the right incline and tension settings, once I got going, I could let go and pump my arms for a bit. Overall, the treadmill feels solid and smooth, and was not hard for me (a very non-technical person) to assemble. It folds up nice and compact (the arms do go down, which I didn't discover right away). The computer works well and it's nice to be able to track my time and distance so I can enter that info manually to my fitness tracker. I also like the little tray where I can set my phone so I can listen to podcasts while I'm on the treadmill.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
