If you're thinking of plastering a ceiling and want to board it out then get yourself one of these and save yourself time and effort. No more aching arms, no more broken boards, no more holding the board up by your head. The machine is easy to assemble and easier to use. Just be careful when lowering the unit, it can fall quickly if you release the lever too sharply.

Limited use for my kitchen project as the wide base required meant it could not extend to ceiling boards around edge of kitchen with units in place. Build quality ok for DIY use, but lower sliding locking bracket was bent and pin did not line up, I dismantled and bent bracket in vice. Unable to fit the handle on wheel which raises and lowers framework as welds are over the thread, it needs drilling and re-taping, however as I only used it on 3 small boards I didn't bother fitting handle. If you have a nice clear room this is a very handy tool.

I have been using this lift to plasterboard a ceiling on my own. It made the job very easy, the hardest part was lifting a full size board on to the lift. It is a pity there is no way of lowering the platform when it is tilted down lower to the ground so you do not need to lift the board so high to get on the cradle.

A really useful item when you are plasterboarding a ceiling, it takes all the hard work out of the job! No more balancing on a ladder whilst at full stretch trying to get some fixings in before the board moves, this puts it in the right place and leaves you with your hands free to get on with fixing. The only thing to note is that you need a clear work space to use it, as you will need to get right into the corners and up to edges to get the boards into the exact spot before screwing them in place. A really good thing about this is that it breaks down really small for storage between jobs.

The tilting / lifting section that the plasterboard is placed on doesn’t stay on the angle thus making it easier to load a sheet on your own. Putting a full sheet up on top of it laying flat at a height of over 1.3m is awkward but possible. The operation of lifting and moving into place is just fine, easy enough to use on your own and stable. The hard work of plasterboarding ceilings made simple, once you have got the sheet up onto it.
