    Love the Harmony remotes, period.

My only problem with programming this one was that when I tried to copy the controls from my previous remote (which my children broke) the watch TV function would not turn on the TV. So I had to reprogram from scratch but it didn't really matter because they are so easy to program from the beginning. All tech products should be this user friendly!!

Harmony 700 problems with Yamaha/Panasonic/Cisco devices

The Harmony download and programming the remote is drop-dead simple. And the database contained all my devices, the Yamaha receiver, the Panasonic TV and the Cisco set-top box, all of which are HDMI interconnected, and all of which behave correctly using their native remote controllers. The Harmony has a default sequence for powering up the first 2 devices (which 2 depend on what you are trying to do, TV, DVD, etc.) My TV has an 8-10 second delay as it turns on before it looks at the HDMI port. The receiver is much faster, powers up and addresses the TV before the TV HDMI port is listening. When the TV comes up it switches to it's internal speakers and functions since the HDMI port is no longer directing it; it sent all it's HDMI commands 3-5 seconds earlier. I put in several calls to Logitech help desk, each of which introduced me to some aspect of solving the problem but none of which actually solved it. They tried, in some cases really hard, but they could not come up with a workable solution. After 2 days of fiddling with it I finally put together some custom lists that actually worked, albeit cumbersome. Then I discovered that when trying to listen to music, on my Yamaha, the 700 ALWAYS chose the "net radio" selection, not the "Net" selection (for Pandora). I could solve this also with more custom listings but only on secondary pages on the remote using the customization buttons. So now there was no more "one button" activation for my devices, the main reason I bought it for my wife. And last but not least, the button labeling is small and has no contrast on the buttons, making it hard for me to see (I wear bifocals). The LCD screen is nice, and the 4-sector labeling is good, but other messages are in small fonts. All in all, it works but it's not worth the effort to me.

  • Shaky Start but Strong Finish

When I first receive the product there were no instructions for set up, so I thought it was intuitive. No matter what I tried, though it wouldn't controll any of my devices. Then, after going on line to the manufacturer web sight I foud that not only is there a manual but software is also required. Long story short, after downloading the free manual and software the device works great.

  • Best Remote Logitech ever made

I have used other Logitech Remotes before, but the 700 is by far my favorite. Buttons last a lot longer than some of my previous Logitech Remotes (e.g. Harmony 880). The physical design of the Remote is also easier to use with a single hand. I am currently using 4 of these for different rooms in the house (with one extra remote in the bedroom that I can use while the other one is charging). Because Logitech doesn't make this Remote any longer, I have also bought 4 spares, to last for years to come. I find the best way to program these remotes is to tell the application to leave all devices powered-up all the time, then add a screen to each activity with Power Toggles for each device. I always hated that when you leave an activity the device would shut off. This way I can turn on or off any device from any activity. Another useful feature to add to each activity, is a "Fix Input" button to the main screen of each activity. This allows you to send the code to the TV to select the correct input on the TV for the current activity (sometimes the TV doesn't get the right input if the remote wasn't pointing at the TV when switching activities, this allows just pressing a single button to fix the TV input). If you are using more than one remote (for different rooms) and don't have more than 8 devices combined for the two rooms, you can add activities for both rooms (just give them a different name from the rename Activity feature). You can then hi-jack a Remote from the other room while charging your original Remote. Because none of my Devices needs to use the 4 colored buttons, I program a Sequence for those buttons to change to 4 of my favorite channels (each button uses a different sequence that consists of sending the number button codes for the desired channel). If you take the time to understand how to program these remotes, I'm sure you will be more than happy with Logitech Harmony 700!!

  • Works with New Logitech Harmony Software

I've been using Harmony Remotes for about 8 years and, now, can not be without one. You cannot fathom how aggravating and frustrating it is to fumble around with various remotes just to turn on your home theater system until after you have lived with a harmony remote for a while....you will never go back. I recently set up a small one person home theater in my office using a 2007 vintage (1080i) LCD flat screen, B&W/RBH speakers and Pioneer Elite receiver and blu-ray player. I have been using an older harmony 720 on my main system and now needed one for the office. Settled on the 700. Unlike the 720, the 700 is a newer remote that uses logitech new set up software. WOW! Cannot adequately explain how much easier is is to set up your remote with this new method. It's so awesome I will likely replace my aging 720 with another 700 soon. Oh....recharging this one is different. Instead of a cradle for recharging, you plug it into a USB or AC outlet. Not a big deal for me. Good remote...very pleased so far and I'm an experienced Harmony Remote user!

  • easy to use but ...

Loved my old Harmony One but got dropped and died. Was looking for a rechargeable remote but didn't need a hub. This refurbished 700 fits the bill but miss the charging cradle! So simple to set up.

  • Great Remote

This remote works well with the system that I have. Lg tv, Dish Satellite box, Sony Blue-ray player,Roku Box and Sony CD player. The programming was easy to do by listing the equipment and letting the software do the rest. The only negative is the size of the 4 way arrow buttons and the ok in the middle. The ok button is small and recessed making it difficult to press with out hitting one of the arrow buttons. All in all it is good to buy something that works right the first time.

  • Absolutely love it

This is my first universal control and I absolutely love it. Got it on xmas sale in Best Buy for $40. But it's totally worth its real price. It controls Sony TV, DirecTV (HR22), a sound bar, Roky, so 4 devices in total in two modes: watch TV (satellite) and watch Movie (Netflix). The most amazing thing is how much this remote is better ergonomically compare to nightmarish DirecTV remote. Huge improvement and no loss. It has all the same buttons located much more intuitively. The only command I have to press on the screen is List, all others are identical hardware buttons. Programming took me a few attempts but it wasn't big deal. Highly recommend this product to anyone. Can't beat value for money and I don't see any need for anything more expensive.

  • Best Remote Control I ever used

Love this remote control. It is easy to set up since you can connect it to your computer via USB cable and have access through 1000s of devices that will best fit yours using their Logitiech app. Also, you can recharge the remote as well using the same USB port.
