  • Loving my Kefir

These grains are little miracles. Making the kefir is so quick and easy and it tastes really great. I am using full fat milk and getting a really creamy product. Love it blended with strawberry and banana. When I made the first batch I was worried about damaging the grains as the product would not pass through my sieve easily, but 'You Tube' came to the rescue and showed that you need to tap your sieve on the side of the collecting jug to help the kefir pass through! So happy with this product!

  • Great product, easy to use, delivered speedily

This was my first experience of making kefir and was far easier than I imagined. The grains arrived quickly, safely packaged in a sealed sachet, looking a bit like very runny cottage cheese, and with a clear and detailed instruction sheet. I had my doubts, but forged ahead and had a first batch to try within 24 hours - a little sharp/sour but ok to drink. From then onwards each batch improved to give a more mellow taste and after only a few tries the taste was as good as (or better than) any shop-bought version. A heads up if you, like me, are new to this.... For the best results you need to open the grains and begin making your first batch as soon as they arrive, so it’s useful to have 2 glass containers ready (one for making the kefir and the other for storing the ready-to-drink product). Also you’ll need to have sufficient fresh milk in store (300 -350 ml). Special note for vegans - even if you want to produce non-dairy kefir, you will have to start off using cow/goat/sheep milk first in order to get the grains established before switching to your favourite non-dairy version. And you will have to give the grains an occasional “fix” of dairy milk in between several vegan batches to keep them alive and well. I haven’t tried nut milk yet but want to, and have been very pleased with the quality and taste of the kefir I’ve made so far from both cow and goat milk - as well as the relative ease of doing so. It feels as if this company take their product seriously and do genuinely aim to give customers a high chance of succeeding with kefir-making as long as you read and heed the helpful instructions.

  • good quality grains which are working well

Comprehensive instructions, which were easy to follow. Much cheaper than buying daily from supermarket. I use whole organic milk, but it also works very well with reconstituted good quality whole milk powder. My digestive system has settled. I read quite a bit about the production and benefits of fermented foods before I bought this product, and the final drink is sour but pleasant. Sometimes I add a few drops of vanilla essence to it before drinking. I like the taste, but not sure if this is a good thing to do. I have added some strawberries to the last ferment, and will see how that tastes later today. I recommend these particular grains. They have increased in quantity, but not to the point where there are too many. My brew is 3 weeks old at present time.

  • Perfect kefir

Item arrived quickly, followed instructions and I'm now enjoying fresh kefir daily by reusing the grains. The taste may take some getting used to (I add my protein zero cal vanilla flavour drops for me and kids) but already my IBS feels better.

  • Best and easiest way to have fresh kefir everyday!

I have been drinking kefir since I was a child, these grains are amazing! Fresh kefir in 24 hours once they establish themselves. I kept mine above the boiler to start with as the house is quite cold but, after three batches, I left the kefir on the counter and it worked as well. I used Yeo milk, I used Duchy, I used Sainsburys Everyday lactose free milk, beautiful kefir, every single time! I have now tried to make almond milk kefir as well with just one small part of the grown grains, I did not wash them from the milk ( they need some milk sugar and fat to work ) and I am quite sure it has been working too. Have been using Plenish+ organic almond milk. I cannot praise this product more!

  • Just started, good so far

I bought these grains after being disappointed by some grains off Amazon, they were making it too fizzy and not very thick. I have only just finished doing the 2x 48hr starter ferments to build up the strength of the grains, I tasted the second batch after 36hrs and it was thick and although sour not fizzy. Now starting my first 24hr proper batch. I noticed the grains are smaller and not quite cauliflower looking yet, some stay at the bottom of the jar rather than float up but I expect the grains will grow. I give the jar some shakes every so often and it seems to work well. I use a lakeland fermentation jar if anyone wants to know, it seems to work well. Also I have only used semi skimmed regular cheap milk so far so it may be even better with whole milk.

  • Perfect and simple Kefir making

Excellent in every way. Followed the instructions to give 48 hours on first "making" and then 24 hours subsequently. We put the jar (grains + milk) in the airing cupboard - as we are in a bungalow the airing cupboard, conveniently, is in the kitchen. The Kefir produced is perfect and the grains "really love it" as they continue to breed. We use old (sterilised with boiling water) instant coffee jars - those with the push-on glass lids - covered with kitchen paper fastened with an elastic band, as per the instructions and use organic full-cream milk, as suggested. We have made Kefir before with other starters but the methods suggested were very complicated and the results not very good but these grains are excellent and the method very simple. Highly recommended.

  • Brilliant kefir beads

Quickly delivered in a sealed food quality packet with a page of straightforward instructions. Follow these and, in my case, two “brews” that both, as warned, took 48 hours have been followed by daily kefir yoghurt. These kefir beads are clearly active little fellows that are now happily doing what they are meant to do but also quietly growing so becoming even more active; very soon I’ll be looking for friends to take some to start their own colony.
