Simple and effective
Having had one for a couple of years, this was pretty effective at keeping the cats off my lawn.Unfortunately they are made of plastic and are not very rigid, especially if you use the extension tube. It wobbles on windy days. It feels like you might break it when disconnecting to change the batteries. You need to turn the water off and drain when frosty to prevent the plastic splitting if the water freezes. Even though I do this, when I changed the batteries the last time and reconnected the water, the internal plastic valve had split and it started leaking badly, (It wasn't leaking before I changed the batteries, and wasn't frozen).which is why I have ordered a new one. It is fairly easy to set up the sensing range and angle of spray, though you may get a little damp doing it :)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

For normal use it's probably OK but -
My problem was the batteries went flat after about 6 weeks due to multiple triggering by birds. I'm being a little unfair to criticise as most people would use it on a lawn and not have this problem - but I needed mine to cover a space between hedge and shed 24/7 - and as my bird feeders were the other side of the hedge there was too much air traffic for the 4 AA batteries to cope with. The original 'scarecrow' version had a single 9 v battery - a version I have gone back to using.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Pest xt water jet
Set up and worked ok. However plastic hose connections susceptital to leakage even with new fittings, care must be taken when moving it to different locations to determine the best site . It is very flimsy. I only turn mine on overnight I dread the hose flying off and flooding the garden plus water is a precious and expensive resource I think permanent connection ie hose fitted with jubilee clips will be better. Godly to set up but worked a treat.
So I bought mine to deter foxes, who are going more adventurous and cunning (who’d have thunk it!), when climbing using neighbours bins/shed to gain access to our garden and dig holes. Wouldn’t mind but they ignore neighbours rabbits completely. So have tried the cat/fox scarer but they work intermittently, so apart from installing some higher trellis on boundary fences, thought I would try this. Firstly it doesn’t seem to be going off all the time, so no noise complaints from neighbours. After the third night my mum said she had heard noises in garden overnight, so I checked cctv and watched a fox wander around garden, sniff a lot, dig a few holes to munch bulbs, but then it wandered into range of sprayer. Boy oh boy did it run. Not had sprayer on since (about a week), and today found pigeon feathers in border so maybe fox is b bc ack or local cats are trying it on, but it’s going back on tonight for sure.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works really well and not expensive to buy.
Path round pond wet some mornings and fish all still in pond so the Heron that was using my fish for breakfast is now having to look elsewhere. It stands high enough so the dog ( Jack Russell ) doesnt set it off but a Heron being taller does. Also sets off when next doors cat comes past with its tail up. Can certainly recommend to anyone who has problems with cats and Herons round a pond. Just remember not to walk past when its switched on unless you want a shower.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

After initial setup and trial and error it works perfect - you can have it spinning 360 or set to a straight line jet. I’ve loads of cctv footage of the Cats scampering off lol. update,fantastic 6 weeks on same batteries. no cats!!! best thing i have ever bought.Mind you it has caught me out with cat grinning behind the fence so remember to turn off water before approaching. has a long reach if required but easily adjusted. i used plumbers tape where it screws together which stops the leaks.
