Professional level.
This is not necessarily a beginners camera but it is a great camera. It can do so much that it can be confusing. It has 14 pages of menu just in the still camera portion. That allows you to do incredible things but it also can confuse until you get some base lines. When all else fails put it on A auto and take great pictures. Awesome Camera to replace a Point and Shoot!
It appears to be an awesome camera. So far has been used in the “auto” mode. Pro quality photos have been taken in this mode. Complex options seem to be for experienced user function. Excellent bridge camera
The RX10 is a very good bridge camera. I purchased it for bird photography while traveling outside the country. The image quality is very good, although as expected not as good as my Canon DSLR and Canon 100-400 mm Lens. Incredible Camera. Great photographic quality, fast lens, power zoom, Fast Focus, HFR recording, good remote operation. Image stabilization works great. My A6000 is lighter and more portable but this camera is significantly better. Has all kinds of focus and metering options. I am impressed with this camera. Picture below was shot the first day at 400 mm, hand held.

Great all-around bridge camera for stills and video w/ awesome zoom range from 24mm wide to 600mm ultra-zoom [full-frame equivalency] w/ wide apertures from f2.4 wide to f4.0 zoomed in. A very feature laden camera w/ a robust body. If you can only bring one camera for travel and adventure, this lens will cover almost all of it!
