  • Must-have JMT Companion

This is a must have for those thru-hiking or section hiking the 220 mile JMT. Pros: the pocket map is sized just right to fit in a front pants pocket or backpack side stuff pocket. It is gloss coated paper that will handle water without being ruined. The map is chalked with details, including best camp spots and alternate trailhead. The preface has a 21-day suggested itinerary to help plan days. Some reports of mislabeled landmarks and inaccurate milage are just not acurate, as far as I can tell. Cons: to make the map so compact, the typeface and page maps are very small and often hard to see with older eyes. I would have preferred the map book be a little thicker and have bigger typed into and closer-up mapping.
