I am breathing great in the mornings. Love it.
Since I started using every night during sleep it has stopped my morning hacking and coughing. I moved to Knoxville TN 10 years ago and it feels like I did when I smoked 2 packs a day 30 years ago. I have allergies and it is all year around for me here in TN. This past 2 weeks has been awesome. I will not stop using this unit. Real quick on noise from fan. It has 4 settings. Low, med, high, and Turbo. Bottom 3 are quiet. I find it very effective on high, but do enjoy the turbo as it covers any noise going to the bathroom during the night, or getting ready for work. I really like this unit. It is very quiet on all settings except the highest setting. My two cents: If you must run it on high, then you have bigger issues than the sound of the unit on high. I have three dogs and it never goes above the second fan speed. Really like the auto feature, which samples the air and adjusts the fan speed depending on the air quality. I fully expect to purchase a second one in a couple of months. The only downside I can mention is that the replacement filters are a little pricey. That said, don't fall for the lifetime HEPA filter. So far so good
Have not had this for very long but so far so good. We have 4 small dogs and they generate a lot of dust and debris in the air. I've noticed the twinkling's in the air have diminished significantly. We keep it on "Auto" so it adjusts itself as needed. I also noticed the other evening while cooking diner that it had kicked itself into high mode as the smell from cooking had permeated the room. Works well for asthmatics
It is quiet on the 3 lower settings but noisy on the top setting, but one gets used to it. The best news is that when I use it on high I wake up without a runny nose or cough. Well worth the money. Powerful All-inclusive Air Purifier!
We had been looking for an air filter big enough to filter air pollutants, reduce odors (we have 3 small dogs), and a true HEPA (both hubby and I have seasonal allergies) and asthma. We were pleasantly surprised to find this Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier was as sturdy, quiet and worked amazingly well. The color line indicates when there are pollutants in the air with an orange light then going to blue when cleaned. We like having this visual and my hubby has tested it out. Yes, after eating a bowlful of beans. That was pretty crazy! I bought a second one for my son and his family. They have two huge Samoyeds and a baby on the way. Works Well, Better than Expected
I bought this because we smoke in the garage in the winter and never in the house. This unit has done a very good job at getting rid of the cigarette smoke and smell. It does take care of the smoke pretty quickly but the smell needs some time, like overnight. I will recommend that this be placed up off the floor for this purpose, sitting on the floor does not let it catch as much smoke. we set ours on a table top and it works alot better. If you want it to put out a little bit of a good smell try sandwiching a dryer sheet between the Hepa Filter and Carbon Filter. We have found that we have to leave the fan on 3rd setting, the 2 lower settings dont move much air. Finally, an air cleaner that I see a difference in the dust in my house. Works good for it's price range .
Winix Air Purifier works pretty good and is quiet on low speed . I think it is good to turn it to Turbo for a while in the morning to help get any floating dust . It does have an ozone generator that doesn't bother me but if you don't like it you can turn it off . If you run it in the dark , most of the lights turn off and it runs at pretty low speed . I do have a much larger room than this is rated for , so I just keep it close to where I sit . I think for a smaller room this would work really good .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Really Great Choice
I'm really pleased with this air filter. I have two other Hepa filters and this is surely the best one so far. It's really quiet even at the medium fan speed which I use the most and I think it's genius that it automatically goes to the sleep mode when the lights go down and back up in the morning as it gets lighter. I use it in the bedroom and have every confidence it's doing what it's supposed to do.
