The next step in Panasonic's G camera series.
Lumix gets better and better! A short time ago, I purchased a Lumix GX85 because of its image quality, its compact size, and its light weight. The GX9 is the next step in the ever-evolving G series. It has a better color pallette, a larger sensor (20 vs. 16 MP), and improved video capabilites. With the passing of the years, I need ever smaller and lighter equipment. These G series cameras offer exceptional quality at very reasponable prices. The available lenses are extraordinary for the price, and all are very light and compact. This camera rocks !
As I have a good collection of Olympus and Lumix M4/3 cameras and lenses I wanted to have a good street unit. This camera is a real joy to use especially for street photos using my Olympus pancake zoom lens. Good compromise of a camera
This camera should have been called the upgrade for the Lumix GX85, not for the Lumix GX8 as many have erroneously been saying when it was first introduced. As the former, it definitely is a nice upgrade since they gave it a bigger sensor, added new dials, and replaced the video record button. Unfortunately, like the GX85, it is not weather-proof, unlike the GX8. Also, they decided not to include an external mic input jack, just like the GX85, while the GX8 has it. However, I do like that they included a built-in flash (like the GX85) and the tilting viewfinder (like the GX8). I like also that they retained the video features of the GX85. Lightweight with great modern features.
