I’d been looking for a semi hollow guitar for sometime. I’d played a lot of different brands including a Gibson ES335, and was very impressed with that. Then I played a Vintage VSA500 and was blown away by just how good it was! Easily on a par with the Gibson, which cost 6 times as much! So my decision was made. And once I saw they were releasing the VSA500mp with natural maple finish, I knew this was the one for me. And I’m very pleased with my purchase. It plays brilliantly straight out of the box. This says a lot for the quality of the build and the quality control and checks/set up done by the distributor. And of course it looks stunning! Any guitar is only as good as the sound it makes, and this is really where this (and all Vintage brand guitars in my experience) are real winners. The Wilkinson hardware and pickups are sweeeeet! And a huge range of tones available from the two vintage voiced humbuckers on this guitar. Everything from thick syrupy warm jazz tones to biting classic rock. This delivers it all! Build quality and very nicely selected woods add to the great natural finish. Some have criticised the “offset” cutaway design of this (compared to traditional 335 types) but I think this is actually a clever and thoughtful design improvement and allows much easier higher fret access. Dare I say better than the big G brand! ;) I can totally recommend you try the VSA500 before purchasing any semi hollow style guitar. I promise you will be impressed. And all yours for the cost of just the deposit on a Gibson! 😁Read full review
