Compact, powerful, a joy to use
I wanted to upgrade my MacBook Pro 15" 2013 laptop for something more recent as my current one cannot be upgraded beyond Big Sur MacOS. I can't afford/justify the price of the newer models, and as I already have a USBC Thunderbolt docking station, the lack of traditional ports makes little difference to me. The laptop is excellent, if you can find one that has been well cared for then go for it. I love the power/touch id, it's really quick and very reliable. The touchbar is OK, you can configure it by applications to simply show functions keys, which I have done for Microsoft Visual Studio code. The screen is awesome, but then the screen on the 15" MacBook was already excellent, I can't say I notice the extra size, physically it's about the same footprint (size/weight) as the older model. However this one comes packed with a much more powerful CPU and also has a dedicated GPU. I chose this model to get the best bang per buck. I didn't want to get the previous 15" model with the scissor keys issue. The keys on this model are excellent, probably not quite as much travel as on my old MacBook, but almost exactly the same as my Apple keyboard. The trackpad on this laptop is absolutely huge, and is really nice. Unless you absolutely need the extra power in the latest M chip models for intense development tasks (such as graphics/video work), save yourself a whole heap of money and get one of these

I'm so pleased with it.
My new (reconditioned) MacBook is great. It was set up all ready with Migration Assistant open. Sending all the data from my old one took less than three quarters of an hour. Great laptop but heavyweight
It's a high performance laptop and a good quality build. It heats up when I connect to external monitors using HDMI cables. This seems to be a common issue for Mac Pro. I'm now using USB-C to HDMI cables and put a wooden pad underneath the laptop to let the heat out. This has reduced the temperature to an acceptable level.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
