Don't expect Parliament sound from the 70's heyday. You get a mix of Funk and Rap tracks in this case. After a few listens some of the stuff will grow on you, but you must give it a chance. Most of the OG's are not around anymore some there is a lot of GC's grand kids vocalizing. Only original vocalist mostly front ground is Mudbone Cooper and he still sounds great. Female vocals are on point also. Recording quality is uneven, some tracks suffer, but mostly good through out.
Just be thankful there is another Parliament album released and George is still putting out!
This reLease is worthy of the name PARLIAMENT! The recent 3cd by FUNKADELIC, Shake the Gate, was mostly hit or miss. Medicaid Fraud Dog works as a concept album with several standout tracks. It’s heavy on the horns and vocals, like a Parliament album should be. A Funkadelic album should emphasize guitars, but Shake The Gate did not, and it also lacked cohesion and unity. Since there are no plans to domestically release a CD, I had to order it from Japanese imprint p-Vine, and glad to have that option. The sleeve and insert feature beautiful artwork by Overton Loyd. This is the one that hardcore Maggots and Funkateers Like me have been waiting for.

If you haven't heard a Parliament Album in awhile ..it's not the same Parliament but DNA is there ...album has the familiar horns and singing style ..maybe not as it was in the 70's but u can smell the old funk...It's P-Funk obviously 5 stars ...that said I like this better then the Funkadelic Shake the Gate
