    hakuna matata

    For anyone who (somehow) missed the The Lion King, this set of 3 cell-animated films represents great value for money. The first needs little introduction, a Disney classic that does a pretty good job of representing Africa in the world of Disney with some brilliant musical numbers. The second film feels a slightly flimsier affair, but looks like Disney letting loose their "B" team on the question many young viewers may ask: "What happens next?", and is perfectly alright if lacking the impact of the original. Speaking of original, the third films eschews a second sequel and the probably thinning out of material by retelling the first film from the perspective of the comic characters, and this works really well. There is definitely some value as well in revisiting the original versions before the cgi reboot chalked up for 2019. Hakuna matata!
