  • Concentrated Delirium that haunts and provokes.

After becoming beguiled by the neon-drenched audacity of the UK released cut of this film I had, nevertheless, resigned myself to never having the opportunity to peruse the original, full-length, version. After sourcing this US blu-ray - which contains the director's original cut as well as the one I am more familiar with - I can gratefully state that I only ever had a partial picture of this exquisitely morbid and perverse cinematic exploration of three (previously two) women leading complex, counter-intuitive and confrontational double lives and the deadly ways those lives intersect, obstruct and collide with each other. This taboo-disrupting motion picture is an assault on the senses, a challenge to the restricted mind and a Belgian chocolate mortar bomb of concentrated delirium that both haunts and provokes. I think it is brilliant, actually. It comes thoroughly, and unreservedly, recommended.
