Authors have honestly pursued the innards of this machine. Book is well organized, digestible; good reading. Continues where the manual-on-line left off. That is, explains an internal battery that is not mentioned, either in the paper manual accompanying the 'product' nor within official, SONY on-line instruction. From a refresher on photographic basics to the subtleties of each menu and sub-menu, the flow of information is elegant. Sony's camera menu system surpasses logic trees employed by marketing giants Canon and Nikon. However, some commands, such as Hand-held Twilight and & Anti Motion Blur remain cryptic until the authors clarify these functions. Without this book I might have skipped over or simply have missed this additional functionality. For instance, Anti Motion Blur applied in low light, they explain, is biased towards higher ISO and slower shutter speeds, presumed for use indoors; indoors, where hand tremor or such is more likely than objects moving along the skyline :). Both are geared for low-light situations. Could I have guessed the difference? No way. This is only one of several not-mentioned-elswhere instances. Like a good furniture-building plan, the authors appear to have actually exercised the s7ll to discover for themselves, then share with the reader, each function. What to expect together with limitations of each function are clearly laid out. If additional parameters/considerations are warranted, they are so listed. Recommendations at conclusion of each chapter is final icing on the cake. Certain facts are repeated for emphasis. This helps. Alternatively, reader being referred to another section of the book is a hassle; plain distractive. Book is described as NEW. OK. I bought a new book  Perhaps some un-mentioned accessories were made available after this book went to Press. There is a vertical grip available for this camera. The grip accommodates two, standard re-chargeable batteries. It is good to know that the setup circumvents a low battery life issue that is characteristic to this camera. Using the grip, camera automatically uses the lesser charged of the two installed batteries. So, when the camera seamlessly switches out of the discharged battery the user may, conveniently, remove and recharge using external charger. I use three batteries. Allowing third to be in the charger while camera is populated with two for reserve power. Cost of accessory is nominal (if purchased as a camera kit from certain vendors); well worth it. Camera continues operation on a single battery within the magazine. And, yes, LCD clearly displays discharged battery by identifying number cross-referenced to number engraved on magazine shell. Interesting to browse You Tube for Tips/Tricks like Back-button focusing - to conserve battery usage. Such escapades, obviously are beyond the scope of the book as well as of this review. Finally, in the end, the casual photographer - as in 'Tourist' - is assured by the authors that full Automatic mode is an effective option. The a7ll, after all, is an intelligent machine.

  • A must have for A7 ii owners , you will reference it frequently.

I ordered this book because the instructions supplied with A7 ii are brief and not enough detail. You can download instructions but you won't have a book.this book covers everything you need to know and more. The book is easy to understand and not written by some geek.
