By using only the genuine Cherry MX RGB switches. You can switch to different layouts, such as Qwerty; Dvorak; Colemak via the dip switches on the this Vortex Pok3r. Vortex POK3R Cherry RGB MX Brown UK Layout.
A mechanical keyboard is a bit of a luxury. That said, if typing is something you do a lot of, it might be a luxury worth indulging in.
The main difference is that mechanical keyboards just feel better to type on. That might sound trivial, but after using the Pok3r for the last six months, I can honestly say that my typing is faster and more accurate. I can get into a rhythm on this thing that I simply can't on other keyboards.
The 60% layout is tricky at first, but saves big on desk-space, and allows for a closer, more comfortable positioning of the mouse. Once you get used to them, the built-in and customisable shortcuts allow for rapid navigation of word processors and other programs.
Customising the LED backlighting system takes some getting used to, as it's controlled entirely through baked-in shortcuts rather than desktop software.
As for build quality, the Pok3r is a beast. This is one well-engineered piece of kit. The thick, high-quality keycaps feel great to type on, and the heavy aluminium chassis means the Pok3r won't slide around while you're typing. The lack of frills and efficient use of space make the keyboard look and feel serious.
If you type a lot, can spare the money, don't mind learning the navigation shortcuts, and can live without a numpad, I would highly, highly recommend this product. It's not a necessity, but it's definitely top quality.
