A Must Have for Anyone Who Has Ever Liked Looking at Fonts
Steven Heller is already a regular on my bookshelf as I have a number of the European Deco titles. I have pondered over whether to own this book for a while now but having no images of the inside pages always feared that the cover would be the best thing about it. Well, luckily I was very wrong. It is a weighty tome that could double up as a door stop and the images of posters, artwork and A-Z layouts of various fonts and lettering fill each page and bleed to the edge. It is a feast for the eyes and for me, what made it worth it alone, were the signs of Art Deco and Modernism creeping into film titles, poster art and lettering. It is packed full of examples and will please anyone with even a hint of interest in graphic design, the mid-century era or lettering as an art form.
