The most thought provoking book I've read in ten years.
This is a very accessible book - easy to read and a compelling page-turner. It puts the whole of human evolution into context, from the big bang to the present day. It also makes a number of very acute observations that will really get you thinking, such as; from an evolutionary standpoint, we didn't domesticate wheat, wheat domesticated us! Or; that we would still be living in small tribal groups were it not for shared beliefs in irrational ideas, such as following a religion. Good dipping-in book!
This book was recommended to me. I find that in later life, I really like reading about history and although this is not a book to read lie a novel, it's really good to dip into and read a bit every so often.
