  • Good for learning - Excellent reminder & reference!

I bought this book to act as a handy reference/reminder that I could have to hand whilst creating a new Wordpress theme, as you need to write PHP, HTML5 and CSS - also optionally some Javascript in order to achieve this. This book provides more than enough clear information to let me just check things and get on with it. The way it is structured also leads newcomers to these subjects very clearly through each one

  • Good introduction into the elements of website development

The book introduces the reader to the main tools used to built responsive websites. Each tool: PHP, MySQL, Javascript, CSS and HTML5 is introduced separately and then explained how they work together. It also helps that all example code can be downloaded via a web link. At the start advice is given on setting up a development server MAMP etc. for local website development on one's own computer or laptop without using a paid for external website hosting setup. The last chapter gives an example for designing a basic social networking website. In the appendix the answers to set questions for each chapter are given along with information on online resources and MySQL details. Finally the index the back of the 700 page book allows to find items quickly to refresh the reader's memory.
