About this product

Product Information

Book 2 in the Eisenhorn series A century after his recovery of the alien Necroteuch, Gregor Eisenhorn is one of the Imperial Inquisition's most celebrated agents. But when a face from his past returns to haunt him, and he is implicated in a great tragedy that devastates the world of Thracian Primaris, Eisenhorn's universe crumbles around him. The daemon Cherubael is back, and seeks to bring the inquisitor to ruin - either by his death, or by turning him to the service of the Dark Gods.

  • Doesn't quite live up to Xenos.

I was quite taken with the first Eisenhorn book, but sadly the second in the series is off the mark. I found I enjoyed the preface short tale about Imperial Guardsmen and mysterious murders Eisenhorn was investigating- the rest of the book seems like neither the author or the main cast knew exactly where they were heading, and the author dedicates very little attention to the main antagonist of the book, almost like an afterthought to Eisenhorn's bouncing about the galaxy looking for clues about his mystery foe, all the while being pursued on the flimsiest excuse.
