About this product

Product Information

'You've long set your heart against it, Axl, I know. But it's time now to think on it anew. There's a journey we must go on, and no more delay.' The Buried Giant begins as a couple set off across a troubled land of mist and rain in the hope of finding a son they have not seen in years. Sometimes savage, often intensely moving, Kazuo Ishiguro's first novel in a decade is about lost memories, love, revenge and war.

  • A thought provoking experience

Ishiguro is a brilliant novelist as anyone who has read 'remains of the day' will know. This is typical of the novelist's innovative approach to story telling, adopting a fantasy genre style whilst embedding it in a distorted historical context. It will affect you depending on your circumstances. As a married 70 year old I found it at times mesmerising although I can understand why some might find it confusing and uninteresting. The last chapter is one of the most moving pieces of writing I have read.
