If you haven't discovered this French detective series by Jean Failler, now is the time. This is a relatively easy read, without a trace of "noir". Failler writes in clear French with lots of dialogue and he has a light touch. His main characters are perhaps a little stereotyped, but no more than in other famous detective stories. Failler gives us a strong female lead, a stoically loyal second fiddle and a boss who knows better than to rein in Mary Lesser despite his frequent anxieties about her methods.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
