This was recommended to me by a native American living in the UK. Unlike many books on this subject, it appears to be historically accurate, depicting as it does the appalling events of the birth of the USA that involved European wholesale slaughter and expropriation of territory belonging to the indigenous nations who had lived civilised lives there in balance with nature for centuries prior to their arrival. We learn that with such a history, the USA cannot currently claim any moral right to be seen as defenders of democracy and individual freedoms. We see the hypocrisy of turning such a history into an entertainment industry and of depicting mass murderers as frontier heroes. Martin Luther King Jr spoke out about such a history and was assassinated 4 years later.
