The seminal 1970s ball-and-paddle game gets a next-millennium update in Breakout CD-ROM. As in Hasbro's updated versions of other Atari arcade classics, such as Centipede and Q*Bert, and especially their Pong: The Next Level, classic Golden Age arcade-style gaming is bolstered with 3D graphics and state-of-the-art sound.<br><br>Much of the game follows the original formula, as players move a paddle back and forth to bounce a ball against a multi-layered brick wall, smashing out individual bricks with each hit. This basic 2D play is represented with 3D elements here, though, and different levels are viewed from different angles. Breakout CD-ROM also includes a number of arcade-style mini-games, which are interspersed with the brick-busting levels
