Chuckie, Tommy, Kimi, and Angelica, a.k.a. the Rugrats, take a vacation on the SS <i>Nancy</i>, but end up marooned on a jungle island when a sudden storm blows them off course in the action-filled escapade Rugrats Go Wild. With unexpected help from Elizabeth Thornberry and Darwin along the way, the toddlers must find Nigel Thornberry to have a chance at rescue. Players have the option of selecting different characters throughout the adventure, with controls designed to be the same for each. In addition to being rescued, the objective of Rugrats Go Wild is to score as many points as possible, and in the first three trips through an area, the difficulty level and maximum points awarded increase.<br><br>The diaper gang must find various items located in the jungle environments in order to survive the perils and get reunited with their parents. Purple Gooshy-Balls smell bad and help repel wild animals, Fresh Fruit provides an energy boost, and Gems improve scoring, while other items range from frying pans and coconuts to a CommVee and stroller. Gameplay consists of various mini-games including Jumpin' Jungle ("bonk" monkeys with Gooshy-Balls), Who's the Boss? (maze), Baby Stroller Race, Swamp Stomp (repel croc-a-gators), Crazy CommVee Race, Go to Bat (explore a bat cave), and Takin' A Bathysphere (underwater exploration to find a remote beach). The game is broadly based on the 2003 Paramount film Rugrats Go Wild, also known as The Rugrats Meet the Wild Thornberrys.
