  • Awesome board

Pros: I love the Gaming 7 board very much, very easy to setup, logical layout, superb build quality, cool flashy LEDs.. Running i7-6700k, 16gb of ddr4 2400 ram, and Radeon 7850 card no problem. All ports works, the dual network card feature is good add on too. Plenty USB 3.0 Ports on the back and even thunderbolt and USB 3.1 Setting up Windows 10 is pretty much plug and play. The OC features in the BIOS is insane... though I'll never OC my board and mainly keep my board in eco mode... the options there just seems endless. There is also M.2 slots for crazy fast SSDs. Cons: There is no option to only keep the rear panel LED lights up and turn off the on-board led, since I have a non-windowed enclosure. There is no on-line firmware upgrade option, you have to physically load a firmware to the system. Someone pointed out there is @BIOS from App Center but when I tried it it prompted me to downgrade to an older BIOS (F6 to F5).. Other Thoughts: Definitely would recommend. you get a lot from the Gaming 7 board in this price tier, compared to some other manufactures offerings.

  • Gigabyte dropped the ball here...

Gigabyte needs to include in their product descriptions somewhere that if you plan on installing Windows 7 via USB, that you need to use a hack they developed for the new firmware for the 6000 series of Intel processors. Just as well, there are certain functions, such as Ethernet capability, that you have to manually install drivers for before you can access necessary functions to get your PC up to date. I've never had this issue with ASRock and EVGA boards, which I have used previously. It works well once you get it up and running, but it took me a sleepless night and a trip to my parents in another city in order to get this going. I'd be willing to pay $50 more in order to avoid that.
