4th generation Apple TV is the best. It's easier to "mouse" around the screen with it, and you get SIRI voice capability, too. The only negative is that it's easy to grab the unit upside down because it's so symmetrical in appearance. It should have more of a hand-friendly bottom end so you'll instinctively pick it up with the correct orientation. It's also slippery, just as the early models were, so it's very easy to drop. Why can't they add a non-slip surface to the rear side, to provide a more secure grip?

I have an older Apple TV that is super easy to use. The generation IV, however, is not. The remote is cumbersome to operate. I have a roku tv and a roku 3 streaming box that I like much better especially with the PlayStation Vue streaming packages. The only thing I will use the Apple TV for is to airplay from other Apple devices. I'm really disappointed in the new genIV

The Apple TV 4th Generation was easy to setup, easy to add my iPhone as a Remote, easy to add my Logitech One Remote, and wireless Apple Keyboard. The two best things I like about Apple TV are Siri control with both the Siri control via the Siri Remote, and the same control with the newest version of the Apple Remote TV App for IOS. The other thing I like is the ability to watch any episodes of a show, going back to when the show first aired. I can't do that with DirectTV; I can only record what is current. Between Netflix and HOB Now, I have access to a wide range of movies. There are also some good apps available too. The only negative aspect to Apple TV is commercials. You cannot skip them as you can do with a DVR. I absolutely hate not being able to fast forward through commercials. I hope Apple can deliver the ability to do that. If it had that ability, I would have rated Apple TV 4th Gen 5 stars.Read full review

I love the new Apple TV 4, downloadable apps being the biggest selling point. I was able to download the Infuse app which allows me to watch steaming content off my NAS including ISO files. Infuse was only available on previously models via jail breaking. The ATV works just like the iPhone: Double click the home button which bring up running apps. Hold the home button and the ATV will go into sleep mode and also turn on/off the TV. The addition of SIRI built into the remote is a must see, almost anything you can do on the ATV you can do with Siri. Tell Siri "What did he/she say" and the program will automatically rewind 15 seconds with closed caption turned on. Swiping to control most apps, games, etc.. is identical to the iPhone. Most of the Video Apps I've used on my iPhone were available for download (Netflix, NBC, ESPN, etc...) and what's not available now I'm sure will be. In the mean time I just stream what I need to from my iPhone which is no different than before. WIFI setup via your iPhone is a bonus, saves having to track down you WPA2 code. Here's what's missing and why I couldn't give it 5 stars. ATV 4 does not support 4k, yet. I'm not ready to upgrade my TV so not a big issue for now. The keyboard layout really sucks, it was much better in the previous versions. I would like to see all my ATV's in sync. Download one app on Roku and the others get it on the next update. With ATV, you have to set up each device to watch apps like NBC, ABC, etc... which wouldn't be so bad if the login didn't expire so quickly requiring a redo each time. I would like to see a downloadable browser one day, from what I've read I'm not sure that will happen. More apps of course but I only use a few now but I'd like to see what's coming down the pike. I received my ATV 4 as a X-MAS gift so it was the best money I've never spent. Read full review

Significant upgrade in performance and features. Make sure to not make the mistake and get the smaller storage. With as many new features and apps they are coming rapidly, you'll be happ you spent the few extra dollars and got the 64gb version. The new remote is easy to use and works well. The new Siri upgrade is a welcome addition as well.

Positives: Works well, fast, good graphics, new app store, good remote (however I use a harmony remote instead), quiet, small, responds well to commands, stable, good value, good selection of apps. Favorite Feature: Airplay (I can show photos and movies from all my apple devices on the TV). Negatives: Missing Amazon app, can't show photos and movies from my non-apple devices on the TV. Pair this with an Amazon Fire and/or a Roku then your bases are covered.

I tried both the Amazon Fire TV stick and the Amazon Fire TV stick with 4K, both were insanely glitchy. And some apps just never worked (CNNGO and Shudder), despite the device being a genuine 14” from the router. I have had no such problems with my Apple TV. Everything runs very smoothly. You can plug an Ethernet cable right in to the back of it. And, everything is synced with your Apple ID. So, if you’re an Apple household, this truly is a must have!

This was a super easy setup. Navigating the menus are super easy. I was successful is using as HUB for Apple HomeKit. The Siri capability leaves a bit to be desired; however, I rarely use this feature.

I couldn't automatically pair it with my phone, but it was easy to set up with my Apple ID. I updated the software easily, but a direct help link for operation would be nice. The Viera system on my Panasonic smart tv isn't being supported by many apps anymore, so the Apple TV is filling in nicely and I can mirror my iPhone.

Finally a streaming box worthy of the name. I have a TiVo and the apps are out of date. Since I already have a number of Apple devices it was pretty easy to decide on the AppleTV. What I like about the box is that it is easy to set up and use. But the biggest advantage is that when you search for a movie or TV show it searches all the apps. TiVo can do the same but the number of apps are limited. Also, voice commands work well. The remote is slick and easy to use. Another neat thing is that if you have an iPhone or iPad you'll be able to use that keyboard when you need to type in text. If you have cable then there is a decent chance that you'll only need to enter your credentials once for the apps such as PBS, ESPN, etc. if like me you have Verizon Fios then you have to activate each app which is time consuming but not Apple's fault I've tried a couple of games and you really need the Steelseries game controller.Read full review
