Wow, I am amazed at the quality of this item.
I wanted to play some emulated arcade games with an arcade stick and was dubious about spending the money because I usually play games on old computers with the stick in my right hand. I thought perhaps I wouldn't be able to get used to it.
It was actually really easy to use straight away, the feel of the buttons and the stick are excellent, the feedback is excellent, it has a really good feel of which direction you're pushing in with a decent but not overly intrusive click, the stick is quite light to move, but I quite like that.
When you look at the switches along the top they look a bit daunting, but if you just read the instructions which only takes a minute you'll understand fully what they're used for.
With a PC you can just plug it in and you're away, but with the PS4 and XBOX ONE, due to the way the regular controllers work, you have to plug the long wire into the console to power it and then another cable into the control pad, I think this is so the console knows which profile the stick is attached to when you have more than one player etc. But again, that's really easy to set up and once you've done it once you most likely won't forget.
I've read that the buttons are generic arcade buttons and can be replaced with different ones and different colours, so it sounds like it may be serviceable too and easy to get into, but I won't be doing that as I imagine that would void the warranty and I'm quite happy with it as standard.
Really good quality for the price. The unit is completely customizable with easily chargeable buttons and stick. Very well built, bargain price.
If your looking for a reliable and sturdy arcade stick, the Venom is perfect for the entry price. I actually thought I would receive a cheap version of the £120+ competitors but the arcade stick is brilliant. The buttons are OEM Sanwa OBSF-30 which are completely interchangeable with many buttons found on eBay. Not that you need to change them as they are very sturdy already and have that genuine Japanese arcade feel. The base comes off very easily to leave full access to it's internals where all the colour coded weird can be easily removed to allow any new buttons to be changed. The reason for the cheap price is because you still have to connect a genuine console controller via the arcade sticks USB out on the rear, but I bought a long micro USB cable and taped it to the arcade stick cable so that my controller can sit on top of my console out of the way and leave me with just the arcade stick on my lap. If I get good enough with the sick I may upgrade at a later date to remove the need for the controller attachment, but I may never need to. One piece of advice, of you are coming off the controller, be prepared to learn to walk again, or at least have a 50% success with your Hadoken! It's a steep learning curve, but well worth the time, so I'm told :)
Stop debating and buy this arcade stick.
Great for beginners looking to replicate that arcade feel.
Nice bit of kit, definitely getting your moneys worth here.
Currently testing it out with mortal kombat xl and tekken 7 and I'm having loads of fun.
I'd definitely recommend it.
