Condition:
The factory fitted seal is poor design and quality and within just a few years from new it begins to break down. This is a problem because as the seal begins to crack and fall apart, air begins to leak into the fuel tank triggering the EVAP warning system (common fault codes for this are P0455 P0456 P0440 P0442), the cracking of the seal would also allow fuel to escape if the vehicle is overturned hence the MOT failure.

High quality seal, to replace your original VW item
Outstanding quality, and very easy to exchange over the original fuel cap seal. Volkswagen do not supply a replacement seal for their fuel caps, they expect you to purchase a comple new fuel cap, costing quite a bit of money. When you buy a completely new fuel cap you then lose the ability to use the original key to lock it. This new seal was the perfect replacement for the old one, that the MOT test centre said needed replacing, and it is very high quality as well, It was exactly the same size and dimension as the original, so i am more than pleased with my purchase.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Solid ring not like original
Original is soft with a slit This is hard not what I was expecting. no play when installed to tight on cap closing didn't want to damage my cap. so stayed with the original. It may be ok for yours .but it is solid had no play put the stress on the cap..Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

superior to original
I bought this product as a replacement for original VW part which had cracked and resulted in an MoT fail. This replacement seal is a solid ring of nitrile rubber which is far superior to the original in both material and design. It is very easy to fit and provides a tight seal and the cap is much easier to unlock it's fitted . Hopefully this will be a lot more resistant to petrol (being made of nitrile rubber) and last a lot longer than the original.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
